Rules for Football God 2012

So,  here the rules for Football God 2012.  You will notice a lot of them are the same as last year, however, I have posted the updates in bold.

20 points if you predict the winner of each of the 11 confrences. These are:

Big 10
Big 12
Big East
Pac 10
ACC
SEC
Sun Belt
Conference USA
Mountain West
MAC
WAC

Total: 220 points

Bowl Games

Name the 8 teams that will be in the BCS Bowls (not including National Champion).  Clarification on a couple rules from last year.  If you have a team in the BCS championship and they only get into a BCS game, you receive no points.  Also, you can't put a team in a BCS championship game, and a smaller BCS game like the rose bowl, or anything else like that.

15 points each

Total = 120 points

National Championship

First you will need to predict the championship game. Each team you get correct will net you 30 points. Also pick the champion. Picking that correctly will net you 50 points.

Total possible 110

Also, this year we will try to predict the winner of more individual awards. ( 35 points each)

I took out the Davy O'Brian award, because the Heisman is basically the award for best quarterback already.  So, fuck that noise.

Heisman Trophy (Best Overall Player)
Fred Biletnikoff award (Best Receiver)
Doak Walker Award (Best Running back)
AP Coach of the year award
Chuck Bednarik Award (Defensive player)

Total 175 points

Grand total for college preseason predictions. 600

Pro Preseason Scoring

Pick the winner of the 8 divisions - 20 points a piece

Total = 160

Predict the four wildcard winners 20 points a piece

Total = 80

Pick the 4 teams that will play in the AFC and NFC championship games (25 points a piece)

Total = 100

Superbowl

Each team you get correct to play in the superbowl will net you 30 points a piece, picking the winner will get you 50 points

Total: 110

NFL individual awards

Each of these that you predict will net you 35 points (25 last year).
MVP
Coach of the year
Offensive POY (player of the year)
Defensive POY
Off ROY (rookie of the year)
Def ROY

Total = 175 points

Total = 600 POINTS AVAILABLE

Thats good for a grand total of 1200 points available. That's more than last year, but also a lot less than two years ago when we had about 2000 available points in the predictions.

If you have any troubles figuring out some of the college stuff, just look up people's predictions online. Also, I'm watching sports center right now and Eric Allen looks a lot like a black version of red skull, when he's in HD. Creepy. Also someone please check my math for me, I'm not trying to stress over this.

Pick 'Em Scoring

Pretty simple here, I'm setting up a pick 'em league. You make picks. You get one point for each pick, this is for pro and college picks. College picks are done against the spread, while Pro games are picked straight up.

For college and Pros put together that gets you around 500 possible points.

Updated scoring opportunity.  We will be doing the bonus system again for having the most points each  week in the system.  However, it will be a little different this year.  In the weeks where both the college & pros are playing at the same time, there will be a 10 point bonus to the person who does the overall best on that week.  The weeks when only one of the two are playing, there will be a 5 point bonus.

For the bowl games, those are worth 2 points a piece. The BCS games are worth 5 points. The Championship Game is worth 10 points.

For the NFL playoffs, the Wild Card and Divisional Round of the playoffs are worth 5 points each
The AFC Championsip is worth 10 points. The Superbowl is worth 15.

Change:  The winner of the college pick'em will receive 30 bonus points.
The winner of the NFL pick 'em will win 30 bonus points.
IF YOU WIN BOTH you will receive 75 bonus points.
Post season Bowl Pick 'em winner will receive a 10 point bonus
NFL post season does not award a bonus.

Fantasy Football

So, Fantasy Football awards the least amount of points, but usually has the biggest division between first and last. Last Year Folden and I scored about 100 points more than Shawn, which is a bigger gap than the Pick 'em usually awards. So we will keep scoring on that basically the same.  Update:  For those who make the playoffs for fantasy football.  Everybody will get an automatic 10 bonus points for making the fantasy football playoffs.

10 points for each win. 14 games
If you get a first round bye you get 20 points
If you win the first round you get 20 points
If you win the Semi-finals you get 20 points
If you win the Championship you get 30 points

Also, back to the predictions, if you have a team in the championship game in college, but they make a BCS bowl, that does not count as a point for you. Likewise, if you have a team in a BCS game, but they make the National Championship, you don't get any points.

Predictions are due for college football the Sunday before the first week of the season.  For the NFL it's the Sunday before their first game.

Football God 2012 is coming soon. Let's figure out the rules

Hey guys, the new season is still a few months away but I wanted to go over a few things with you guys for this year.

#1 The league buy in this year is $50.  I'm going to put $40 each in the prize pool, and take the other $10 dollars per person and get a trophy or a plaque made for us for the winner to hold every off season.  This is the last time I speculate we will raise the league buy in for a long time.  So, don't worry about it going up anymore after this.

#2 Rule changes.  I'd like everybody to send me a message regarding any rule changes they would like to make.  I'll put all the ideas for rule changes and put them in a message so that we can vote on them.  I have a couple ideas of things I'd like to tweak, but I'm pretty happy for the most part.

#3.  John, who didn't fill in his pick 'em for most of the year is being assessed a penalty and will have to pay more money to be in the league this year.  I believe we settled on double the fee. So he'll be putting in $100 this year.

That will bring our totals for the year at $520 in the prize pool & $130 to make the trophy.  If there is any money left over for the trophy, which i hope there will be, I'll put that into the prize pool for the league.

So, let me know ANY changes you want to make, big or small, or any ideas you may have.

FOOTBALL GOD FINAL STANDINGS

Here we are, down to the last game. Let's go through the points to see who is the 2011 FOOTBALL GOD. We'll go through the individual awards first.

Shawn, Simon, Folden, Andrew, Joe, John, & Colin each are awarded 20 points for picking Aaron Rodgers as the MVP.

Nobody picked Drew Brees as OPLY, and nobody picked Suggs as the DPOY.

Bono picked Cam Newton for Off ROY

Nobody had Jim Harbaugh as coach of the year.

Jim, Geiss, Adam, Joe, Bono, and Chris all get 20 points for having Vonn Miller as D ROY.

Also, the NYG have won the superbowl, in case you haven't heard. Simon, Adam, Shawn, Andrew, and Bono each get 15 points a piece for picking that game correctly...So with no further adieu, here's the final scores

Total score+ individual awards score + 15 points for picking NYG (if applicable) = Overall score
Shawn 844 + 20+15=879
Joe 837+40=877
Jim 828+40= 868
Geiss 792+20=812
Andrew 789+20=809+15=824
Simon 789+20=809+15=824
Folden 772+20=792
Adam 767+20=787+15=802
Bono 750+40=790+15=805
Colin 703+20=723
Munez 665+20=685
John 454+20=474

Final Standings

Week 21: Coming down to the Wire!!!

Here are the total points + the newest points. Geiss, Joe, Jim, & Simon got 30 points for having NE in the superbowl. the rest of the points are from people who got some picks correct.

1. Shawn 824+20= 854
2. Joe 797 +40= 837
3. Andrew 789 = 789
4. Jim 778+40 = 828
5. Adam 767 = 767
6. Simon 759 +30= 789
7. Folden 752 + 20= 772
8. Geiss 742 + 50 = 792
9. Bono 740 +10= 750
10. Colin 683 +20= 703
11. Munez 655 +10=665
12. John 454 (-fuck off)

1. Shawn 844
2. Joe 837 (NE winning SB)
3. Jim 828 (NE winning SB)
4. Geiss 792 (NE winning SB)
t5. Andrew 789
t5. Simon 789
7. Folden 772
8. Adam 767
9. Bono 750
10. Colin 703
11. Munez 665
12. John 454

So, this is where we are left with. Joe, Jim, and Geiss have NE winning the superbowl, which comes with a 50 point bonus. We still also have the individual awards to come too, which are announced the day before the Superbowl. Also, the Superbowl pick 'em is worth 15 points. So, realistically, three people still have a good shot of winning. Joe, Jim, and Shawn. If NE wins the championship, then Geiss will be in the mix for the top three spots. He maybe able to jump to 1,2, or 3 if he gets enough of the individual awards, but he probably can't. Also, Simon and Andrew are still in it for the top 3, assuming NE doesn't win. Everybody else is essentially out of it. So, figure out the math, and pick carefully. I won't be doing an update based on the individual standings the day of the Superbowl. Good luck to everyone still in it!

Football God: Week 20: Green Bay Bengals

Well we are down to four teams, and this is where we are.

NYG @ SF
BAL @ NE

Green Bay's loss ruined Folden & Simon's chances of having their team win the Superbowl, while the NO's loss knocked Colin out of the running, too.

We are now down to four people whose preseason prediction is still alive.

Jim, Joe, & Geiss who have NE, & Shawn who has Baltimore. That also means that if one of those two teams win, somebody will have correctly predicted both the College and Superbowl champion. Joe will have had Bama & NE, and Shawn with Bama & Baltimore. Also, Simon can still get points for having NE in the Superbowl, but not winning it.

So, let's hit up the totals now. Everybody except for Colin & John had exactly one team in one of the league championship games. So, that's 25 points added to all of our scores. Also, in the playoff predictions, each win was worth 5 points this week. So, let's look at how that turned out.

(Playoff pick'em + 25 point bonus (if applicable)+total overall score)

Folden 20+25 = 45+707= 752
Adam 15+25 = 40+727 = 767
Shawn 15+25=40+784 = 824
Joe 15+25=40+757 = 797
Jim 10 +25= 35+743=778
Geiss 10+25= 35+707= 742
Andrew 10+25=35+754= 789
Simon 10+25=35+724= 759
Bono 10+25=35+705= 740
Munez 25+630= 655
Colin 10+673= 683
John 0+ 454 = 454

1. Shawn 824
2. Joe 797 (-27)
3. Andrew 789 (-35)
4. Jim 778 (-46)
5. Adam 767 (-57)
6. Simon 759 (-65)
7. Folden 752 (-72)
8. Geiss 742 (-82)
9. Bono 740 (-84)
10. Colin 683 (-141)
11. Munez 655 (-169)
12. John 454 (-fuck off)

You can look at next week's NE vs Baltimore game as a playoff in a way. If Baltimore wins, Shawn pretty much has this thing won. If not, it's still open to quite a few people. So, if you have NE you better be routing for them.

Football God: Week 19: Tebow, Tebowed, my Tebow

First, I need to admit a fault here. In the template I sent out with everyone's picks, I put the wrong Championship game for Joe. I put Oklahoma winning it, It was supposed to be Alabama. So, I changed it in mine, and apologize for the confusion.

So, the Steelers lost, the Tebow's won. And here we are, with the college football season over. We've got a big update in scores here, seperating the field a little bit, thanks to a big 50 point bonus for the teams that picked Alabama to win the National Championship. Those people were:

Adam, Andrew, Shawn, Simon, Folden, Joe, and Bono

Also, congrats to Geiss on winning the bowl pick 'em, he'll pick up an extra 10 points there.

The only points left for the season are the play off pick 'em, which has no bonus, and a few of the pre season predictions.

The NFL will be unveiling all of their regular season awards the day before the Super Bowl. Other than that, we have just the AFC/NFC championship game teams, the Conference Champs, and the Superbowl Winner.

Also, for the pick 'em, keep in mind that the wildcard and the divisional round of the playoffs are worth 5 points a piece, the conference championship picks are worth ten points, and the super bowl is worth 15. Here are the scores.
Total score +bowl pick'em score + play off pick'em score + college national championship bonus+ 10 point bowl pick 'em bonus for Geiss = total score

Jim - 681+57+5=743
Shawn - 680+39+15+ (50)=784
Joe - 642+60+5 +(50)= 757
Andrew - 648+51+5=704 (50)=754
Geiss - 608+74+15= 697+10=707
Adam - 605+57+15 (50)=727
Simon - 598+66+10=664 (50)= 724
Colin - 611+57+5=673
Folden - 599+43+15=657 (50)= 707
Bono -578+67+10=655 (50) = 705
Munez - 575+50+5=630
John- 379+ 57=454

1. Shawn 784
2. Joe 757 (-27)
3. Andrew 754 (-30)
4. Jim 743 (-39)
5. Adam 727 (-57)
6. Simon 724 (-60)
7. Folden 707 (-77)
8. Geiss 707 (-77)
9. Bono 705 (-79)
10. Colin 673 (-111)
11. Munez 630 (-154)
12. John 454 (what the fuckkkkk eeevvveerr)

So, for the rest of the season, here is what we have left

Shawn, Simon, Jim, Geiss, and Joe all have both of their Superbowl teams left in the playoffs. Those five, plus Colin and Folden still have their Superbowl winner left in the playoffs.

John, Bono, and Munez all have neither of their Superbowl teams left in the playoffs, with myself and Andrew having our Superbowl loser still in the mix.

All of us but Colin and John have exactly one team left in the AFC championship, with nobody having two teams left.

In the NFC, myself, Andrew, Colin, and Shawn have our NFC championship still in play all of us having NO vs GB. Munez and Jim still have NO left, and everyone else has GB still in play.

I'm not going to try to make sense out of the awards. But this is pretty much where we are. Figure out from where you stand, compared to who has what left to know what you need to happen to finish in the top 3, which is who the money goes to. Until next week, I love you all.

Football God: Week 18: TITS or GTFO

The regular season is over. I want to start today by congratsing Joseph on winning the Fantasy Football Championship and winning the 30 bonus points.

I also would like to congratulate Colin on winning the Pro Pick 'em and the 25 bonus points that come along with that. So with all of that being said, I have the grand totals up to this point of the season. I'm going to say this now, so that I'm very clear. I won't be adding what's already happened up again. I'm going to use this as a total score, and just sort of adding onto things from now on. So, check your scores yourself and make sure I got them right.

Now, onto the score boards.
