Short Update

Hey guys.  I don't really have the time to go through everything right now, but wanted to just make a couple of quick announcements.

Congrats to Alex on winning the fantasy football league.  He started 1-5 and ended up winning every game but 1 the rest of the way to make the playoffs.  I truly haven't seen a comeback like it.  Good for you, Alex.

Alex wins the 4 bonus points that comes with this, Shawn comes in 2nd and receives 2 bonus points.  Joe comes in 3rd and gets 1 bonus point.

The bowl pick'em is underway, no real updates on this yet.  Those will come after the weekend.

The Pro pick'em is down to the last week with a lot of games.  REMEMBER to make your picks throughout the playoffs.

SURVIVOR POOL is down to 2 teams, Alex & Rob.  I lost last week by picking Fuck Hodges and the Steelers.

Loser's Pool is also in the last week, with Gary and I still fighting it out for 2nd place, with Shawn having sewn it up long ago.

That's all I got this week.  Just wanted to update people on the happenings.

First Point Update of the Season

We've finally reached the point where I can give an involved and detailed status of where we stand on the season.  Let's start off:

Fantasy Football:

Shawn & Alex won their games this weekend, leaving the two of them in the finals.  Shawn gets the honor of getting to be the last team that gets the shit kicked out of them by Alex this season on the way to his inevitable overtaking of the world.

Hale & Joe will play for 3rd place and 4th place points.

Over the weekend, Munez beat me locking up 5th place and I took home 6th.  Here are your points as of now.  (Shawn, Alex, Hale, and Joe are showing the average of their points that are available to them.

Shawn 11.5
Alex 11.5
Joe 9.5
Hale 9.5
Munez 8
Adam 7
Rob 6
Folden 5
Gary 4
John 3
Jim 2
Eplin 1

College Pick'em

Rob ran away with the college pick'em, Shawn came in 2nd, and Folden 3rd.  This is important because there are bonus points given to the top 3 in everything except for the survivor and losers pool.

Our Final point totals in this go as follows.

Rob 12
Shawn 11
Folden 10
Alex 9
Munez 8
Gary 7
Adam 5.5
Joe 5.5
Eplin 4
John 3
Hale 2
Jim 1

Survivor Pool

Me, Alex, and Rob still are in the Survivor Pool with 2 weeks to play.  Here are the points in this one:

Adam 11
Rob 11
Alex 11
Gary 9
Hale 8
Eplin 7
Shawn 5.5
Joe 5.5
Jim 4
Folden 3
John 2
Munez 1

Losers Pool:

This one has Shawn already winning it with Me and Gary fighting it out for 2nd and 3rd place:

Shawn 12
Gary 10.5
Adam 10.5
Eplin 9
Rob 8
Joe 6.5
Munez 6.5
Jim 5
John 4
Hale 3
Alex 2
Folden 1

These four categories are either complete or near complete, there wont' be a lot of variance left in these.  However, the next ones still have a lot of changes to go through

PRO PREDICTIONS & BOWL PICK 'EM

I don't have any points tallied for this yet, so these are the x factor going forward in the league.

Pro Pick'em

With two weeks left in the bowl pick'em it's really tight.  At the top Gary holds onto a 2 game lead, with Alex and Rob tied for 2nd behind them.  Alex had a rare bad week to fall.

Munez is in 4th with 117, with me and Hale tied at 5th with 116.

After that there is a drop off to Shawn at 110 Folden at 117 and Eplin at 106 in the 7-9 spot.

Our points (as of now)

Gary 12
Rob 10.5
Alex 10.5
Munez 9
Adam 7.5
Hale 7.5
Shawn 6
Folden 5
Eplin 4
Joe 3
John 2
Jim 1

This brings us to our College Predictions.  I'm going to attach the college predictions sheet after this so everyone can see where we are at this point.

In the top 4, no one was able to get more then 2 teams in the finals.  Everyone got Clemson, and then there was a smattering of Ohio st and Oklahoma for some people.

At this point, 6 people have their champion still in teh running, 7 people have their runner up.  All of these are Clemson for everyone, (except for me, having Ohio State and Clemson)

This means that if Clemson makes the finals, the point differences could vary greatly.

As of now here's where everyone stands:

Rob 12
Adam 11
Hale 10
John 9
Folden 8
Joe 7
Eplin 6
Alex 5
Gary 4
Jim 3
Voyten 2
Munez 1

Rob has 38 points in the lead.  I'm 2nd with 33.  I think the only way Rob can fall out of the top spot here is if Ohio State wins the National Championship.  Other then that, depending on Clemson winning or losing the National Titlea  lot of people could jump or fall.

In the attachment, the Yellow highlights in the individual awards represent getting a finalist in the category who didn't win.  You received 1 point for that this year.

The rewarding of bonus points for someone being the only person to get a correct prediction in a category goes as follows.

Adam - Ohio St winning the Big 10
Voyten - FAU winning Conference USA

That is it.

Bonus Points.

I'll also attach the bonus point spread sheet.  If you can figure out my weird method to follow it.  But here's the overall totals here.

Rob 21
Alex  14
Hale  11.5
Shawn  11.5
Adam  11
Folden  10
Joe 9.5
Munez  8.5
Gary 8
John 8
Eplin  6.5
Jim  5.5

OVERALL STANDINGS

Here's where we stand at this point:

Rob 71
Adam 61
Alex 59
Shawn 55.5
Hale 51
Gary 50
Joe 43.5
Folden 39
Munez 37.5
Eplin 33
John 26.5
Jim 17

Still a lot of fluctuation and 2 categories taht haven't even started being counted yet.  Until next time.

Updates Updates

Hey guys been a few weeks since I updated.  So let's see where we stand.

Fantasy Football

The regular season has come to an end, and we have some resolutions.  Alex made the unbelievable comeback of his team starting 0-5 yet he still made the playoffs.  He won 7 of his last 8 games in the best comeback story I think in the 12 years of this league.  Well done Alex.

He beat Rob in an elimination type game, jumping him via the points scored tiebreaker.

Joe hit a late season losing streak, dropping him to a tie at 7-6 along with Rob and Alex, his points scored helping him to stay in the 5 seed.

I had a late season surge to power myself to 8-5 and the 4 seed, helped a little bit by Folden's strategy of not playing a QB or WR in the last game of the season.

Munez finishes at 9-4 and in the 3 seed, tied with Shawn and Hale, but beaten by the point tie break.

Shawn and Hale end as our 1 and 2 seed and enjoy the luxuries of a first round bye.

Points so Far

Rob was in great playoff position, but went 1-3 down the stretch, and just about every other game went the worst way possible for Rob.

Folden fell apart at the end finishing in 8th.

Gary pulled out 2 wins to end the season, which brought him from last to 9th, which is a big difference of 3 points in the final overall football god standings.

John finished in 10th, Jim 11th, and Eplin's 7 game losing streak ends the year for him in 12th.

Rob 6
Folden 5
Gary 4
John 3
Jim 2
Eplin 1

Shawn and Hale are guarenteed somewhere between 12-9 points.  The rest of us could fall to 8 or 7 points.

Matchups
\
Munez Vs Alex

Man this one looks bad for Munez.  Alex's team is putting up about 150 points a game.  That being said, noone's stifled their opponents scores this year like Munez.  He's like the bitter poison pill to everyone he plays.

The winner gets Hale the Snail.

Adam Vs Joe

I've been lucky enough to play Joe twice this year and beat him twice this year.  I feel like this luck is going to run out.  I've got some injury issues and Joe's team looks like it's finally fully healthy.

Survivor Pool

The survivor Pool has dropped to 4 people with 4 weeks to go.  Rob lost his 1 game cushion by choosing Carolina last week.  This loss also knocked Hale out of the running.

Eplin was able to make it through the tiebreak round with the high points for the group of people who got knocked out a few weeks ago.

Here's where our points are laid out so far.

Hale 8
Eplin 7
Shawn 5.5
Joe 5.5
Jim 4
Folden 3
John 2
Munez 1

Losers Pool

The losers pool is closer to it's resolution.  Shawn already won the losers pool.  Rob & Eplin were just eliminated tied for 4th.  So they'll play things out for 4th and 5th.  And Gary and I are playing for 2nd and 3rd.  Here's our point totals at the moment:

Shawn 12
Adam 11 or 10
Gary 11 or 10
Rob 9 or 8
Eplin 9 or 8
Munez 6.5
Joe 6.5
John 4
Hale 3
Alex 2
Folden 1

College Pick'em

We're in our final week of the pick'em, and Rob's got that shit locked up.  He's up by 10 and there are only 8 games available to pick from.  Shawn and Alex are a point apart for 2nd, Munez and Folden likely fighting it out for 4th and 5th.  It appears there's some room for everyone to rise of fall a little bit.

Pro Pick'em

Alex is trying to go wire to wire in the lead here.  He's got a several game lead.  We'll get more into that next week.

The College Pick'em points will start rolling in next week, we'll get to that then too.

Bonus Points.

So, I'll try to do as comprehensive of a review of who has earned what in our bonus points so far.

Fantasy Football Bonus point for highest score of week.

Alex 3
Rob 3
Joe 2
Shawn 2
Adam 1
Hale 1
Gary 1

Fantasy 1/2 point for highest scoring loser of the week

Alex 1
Rob 1
Folden 1
John 1/2
Joe 1/2
Jim 1/2
Shawn 1/2
Eplin 1/2
Munez 1/2
Hale 1/2

Pick'em Bonus Through Week 13

Alex 4
Folden 2
Munez 2
Hale 1
Rob 4
Gary 2
Eplin 1
Jim 1

Fantasy Wins 1 Bonus point per 4 wins & 1 point for making fantasy playoffs

Shawn 3
Hale 3
Munez 3
Adam 3
Joe 2
Alex 2
Jim 1
John 1
Folden 1
Rob 1
Gary 1

Total bonus points at this point.

Alex 10
Rob 9
Hale 5 1/2
Shawn 5 1/2
Munez 5 1/2
Joe 4 1/2
Folden 4
Gary 4
Adam 4
Jim 2 1/2
Eplin 1 1/2
John 1 1/2

Of course this is without factoring any category winners or the prediction bonus's so that's going to change big time.  There are only two weeks left in the bonus points for pick'ems. So, the number we get from that will be everyone's baseline going forward so I don't have to add these up again.

So, basically, at this point, I still can't give you guys a mock of the standings.  However, once the college predictions mostly roll in tomorrow we can start with some mocked standings so everyone can see where they are.  Those will of course be without pro predictions or the bowl pick'em.

ALSO, Everyone sign up for Bowl pick'em on ESPN.  You should have gotten an email link.  Thanks guys.  Hopefully an update next week!

Survivor Blow Up

Well well well...Thanks to the Saints I got my wish.  We got some fucking movement on the Survivor Pool.  Four eliminations:  to Shawn, Jim, Eplin, and Joe, knocks the Survivor Pool down from 9 to 5.  Per usual, the Saints fuck the chicken on it, getting blown out to the Falcons when they were 13 point favorites.

This leaves Gary and Rob as the only two people without a strike.  Me, Hale, and Alex are still alive with a strike a piece.

Shawn, Jim, Eplin, and Joe will be fighting it out for the 4 to 7 point range of things.

The Losers Pool was even nuttier.  Literally everyone lost.  Shawn got his first strike, and that was good enough to finish in 1st place for the year, netting him 12 points in the overall standings.  Everyone else, Rob, Joe, Eplin, Munez, Me, Gary, will be fighting for the 11 to 6 point boost.   Congrats to Shawn.

College Football Predictions:

I was able to get a much better look at how things are able to play out this week.  I'm going to be sending this as a link through facebook so you can follow along.

The color coding is pretty simple.  If it's in Green it is confirmed, if it's in yellow it's unlikley to occur, and if it's in Red it won't occur.

The only predictions to come 100% accurate so far are Folden's Willie Taggart fired prediction and Rob's Chris Ash fired prediction.  I want to hgihlight a coupel of places where people are looking good.

In the Big 12 a lot of people went Texas this year.  With only a few games left Oklahoma is looking poised to repeat.  This benefits Joe, Rob, Munez, Eplin, Alex, John, Hale, and Folden.

Somehow I was the only person pick either Ohio St or Minnesota to make the big 10 title game.  This would be a huge boost for me, if Ohio State were to play Minnesota and beat them.

The AAC is looking very much like UCF won't be winning that.  This is a big boost to Voyten, Hale, and Rob who have Memphis.

5 people took Georgia winning the SEC this year.  I'm unsure if this will happen, as it's looking increasingly like Alabama won't be in the SEC championship.  LSU has 3 conference games left and would need to lose 2 of them for Bama to get into that game.

Alex, Munez, and Folden are the only ones hurt by Washington's fall off this year, Oregona nd Utah are fairly split between the rest of us.

At this point, almost everyone's picks are still in the running.  Outside of anyone who chose Texas or Michigan.  Otherwise everyone's picks are all still in the running.

Fantasy Football

Technically, I guess, Eplin and Gary aren't eliminated mathematically yet.  But, let's presume they're chances of making it in this are so small that we'll leave them out of discussion until we see a win or two.

Let's also assume that Joe, Shawn, and Hale are in the playoffs.  All three are at 7-3 and have a 3 game lead over the 7th place team.

Today we'll focus on teams 4-10

Folden 4-6 vs Rob 6-4
Jim 4-6 vs Shawn 7-3
Alex 4-6 vs Eplin 3-7
John 4-6 vs Hale 7-3
Munez 6-4 vs Joe 7-3
Adam 5-5 vs Gary 3-7

So, the only game between teams that are still fighting is between Rob and Folden.  Like half of Folden's team is either on bye or hurt, so let's sea how this goes.  I mean the guy's receiving core is Curits Samuel, Cole Beasley, and N'Keal Harry, a guy I've literally never heard of.  These are either the most savvy plays of all time or Folden's just fucked.

Otherwise, Alex has fought back from a 0-5 start to win 4 out of his last 5 getting up to 7th place and being a win and a lose from me away from being in the playoff picture.  He has a 50 piont lead on me in points for hte tie breaker.  If he loses the Folden, Jim, and John all could tie me with a win this weekend and a loss by me.  It's most likely I would keep my point tie breaker over each of them unless I did absolutely nothing.

If Folden, Jim, Alex, John, Joe and Gary were to win though that would cause some craziness. 4-10 would all be seperated by 1 game.  We'll likely endu p somewhere in between.

That's it for this week.

Update in the City

Another wicked weekend has come and gone, and here we are knee deep in a soggy November rain, basking in the memories of warmer days.  Onto the update

NFL was wild this weekend with the hometeam winning every game except for the Monday night game.  That fucked up a lot of people's picks and a couple of survivor pools.  So let's start with that.

Survivor Pool & Losers Pool

Survivor Pool took it's 3rd victim of the season, with Folden choosing the Browns and paying for it.  He's now in 10th in that giving him 3 points on the year for Survivor.  The point totals go as follows

3.  Folden
2. John
1. Munez

That leaves 9 people to go in this pool and man could we use some movement.  We're more then halfway done on the year, and there are still 5 people without a strike.  Those are:

Me, Alex, Gary, Hale, and Rob.

People with one strike are: Eplin, Shawn, Joe, and Jim.

It would figure that something has to give at some point.  For those unaware of tiebreaker rules, if we go the whole season without a winner.  The tie is broken based off of when the person got their first strike.  So at the end of the year if it's Hale and Joe as the final 2.  Hale would get first place points because he went longer without his first strike.

If people don't have a strike, or got strikes on the first week, then I'm out of guesses and the people just split the points.  So, 12 and 11, each person would get 11.5.

The losers pool has had significantly more movement.  Jim got knocked out by picking Pittsburgh this weekend, which puts him in 8th place gaining 5 points.  The points in this one are:

5. Jim
4. John
3. Hale
2. Alex
1. Folden

Everyone else has 1 strike, except for Shawn who is pushing along without any.  This pool could be over in any given week.  Although that's unlikely.

Pro Pick'em

After a terrible week from Alex, the pro pick'em has finally tightened up.  Shout out to Hale for obstaining on picks, realizing this week was going to be difficult.  Gary took advantage of this the most, picking up 8 points on Alex and moving into 2nd place overall.  He has a 4 game lead over me, which is where the bottleneck starts.

8 games seperates me at 3rd and Joe at 10th.  So with 8 weeks to go in the regular season, there's plenty of room for everyone to move.

College Pick'em

College is tight.  Munez has a 1 game lead over Rob and Shawn and a 3 game lead over Jim.  Folden and Alex are only 4 back.

Fantasy Football

We almost had the perfect chaos weekend, but Gary's QB injury prevented him from winning.  Overall, we have 4 weeks left and everyone is still technically still in it.  Let's go through the standings.

Joe 6-3
Rob 6-3
Shawn 6-3
Hale 6-3
Adam 5-4
Munez 5-4
John 4-5
Folden 4-5
Alex 3-6
Eplin 3-6
Jim 3-6
Gary 3-6

3 games separating 1st through 12th is pretty good variance.  four 6-3 teams, four 3-6 teams, two 5-4 teams, 2 4-5 teams.  It's almost beautiful to look at.

What does this mean for playoffs?  Well, you need to look at next week's schedule to get a better idea of where this might shake out.  Consider this the 2nd part of potential fantasy football chaos that could ensue, based off of the schedule.

1. Joe 6-3 vs 2. Rob 6-3
5. Adam 5-4 vs 6. Munez 5-4
4. Hale 6-3 vs 12. Gary 3-6
3. Shawn 6-3 vs Folden 4-5

So the first 3 games.  Rob and Joe are basically playing for 1st and a playoff spot guarenteed (based off of their points).  So there game is pretty much irrelevant for this articles purposes.

Gary needs to win or he's done.  That simple.  He needs to win out plain and simple.

Munez and are playing at 5-4.  This means that one of the playoff teams next week will be 5-5, whether it's me, Munez, Folden, or John (if they both won)

Folden needs to beat Shawn to put himself into good position down the stretch to make the playoffs.

Here's where things get interesting, and where the playoffs more then likely start for 4 teams this weekend.

Alex 3-6 vs John 4-5
Eplin 3-6 vs Jim 3-6

Simply put, Jim or Eplin are out of it after this weekend.  And Alex is out if he loses.  John's very low points for likely puts him out if he loses too, so let's say this is playoffs starting for these teams.

Let's put out a scenario.

Alex wins, Gary wins, Folden wins.  Our standings next week

1. J or R 7-3
2. J or R 6-4
3. Shawn 6-4
4. Hale 6-4
5. A or M 6-4
6. A, F or M 5-5
7. A, F, or M 5-5

Then you have

John 4-6
Alex 4-6
Gary 4-6
Jim or Eplin 4-6

If this happens, we'll have 5 teams within one game of the playoffs with 3 to play.  That's where things go nuts.

Bonus Points:

I'm going to do a full on bonus point update here soon and let everyone know where they stand.

Pro & College Predictions:

We're 1 week away from when college predictions can be talked about.  That, fantasy and bonus points will be the soul update for next week.

Weekend Preview

Wanted to give a quick weekend preview to you guys:  Especially where it states around fantasy football.  This could be the last weekend where everyone is relevant.

1. Joe (6-2)
4. Shawn (5-3)

3 Rob (5-3)
5 Adam (5-3)

These games are your top rung teams playing it out for postion.  A loss likely keeps all the 5-3 teams in the playoffs, so they are important for seeding and trying to secure a better chance at playoffs.

2. Hale 6-2)
11. Alex (2-6)

8 Eplin (3-5)
9 Folden (3-5)

7 John (4-4)
12 Jim (2-6)

6 Munez (4-4)
10 Gary (3-5)

Here's where your schedule matters most.  3 games between people at 2-6, 3-5, or 4-4.  So let's play out a couple of scenarios.

If Alex or Jim loses, they're done.  Folden & Eplin will result in a 3-6 and a 4-5 team, and Munez and Gary could result in two 4-5 teams.

If Alex, Jim, and Gary win.  We'll end up with a 6-12 that looks like this.

Munez 4-5
Gary 4-5
Eplin or Folden 4-5
John 4-5
Eplin or Folden 3-6
Jim 3-6
Alex 3-6

What this means is that we'll have 6 teams within one game of the playoffs, also everyone would be within 2 games of the 2nd seed (without tiebreakers).  In this scenario only Joe is really safe for the playoffs for the time being.

Of course it's more likely that we end up with some sort of mixture of this and at least 1 team will be eliminated from contention this weekend.

Survivor Pool & Losers Pool

With 8 weeks down.  We have a little bit of movement in the pools.

The survivor Pool hasn't changed much, all we have figured out there is that John is 11th and Munez is 12th.

Me, Alex, Gary, Hale, and Rob are all without a strike and we're all clear of Week 9 having picked the Niners on Thursday night.

Eplin has 1 strike and also picked the niners.  Otherwise, Folden, Jim, Joe, and Shawn all have one strike and are yet to go this week.

Losers Pool

The losers pool has had more movement.  Currently the points given out in that one go as follows

4. John
3. Hale
2. Alex
1. Folden

Everyone else has 1 strike, except for Shawn who is strikeless.  Munez, Eplin, Gary, Joe, and Rob are clear of week 9 having chosen Arizona in the Thursday Night game.  Shawn, Jim, and I still have to pick.

Pick 'ems

Pro pick'em is still pretty tight for hte most part, except for Alex.  Alex has an 8 game lead over me and Hale for 2nd.  Gary is two behind us.  Munez 3, Jim 4, Rob 5, Folden 6.

In college Munez has a two game lead over Folden, 3 over Rob and Sahwn, and 4 over Alex.  Jim is right behind at 5 back.

I'll be getting a bonus point update here soon so everyone can see where they stand.  I will even be able to mock up some standings in the next week or two.

That's it for now.  Have a good weekend.  I'll try to get back after the weekend with some updated College Predictions as we head down the stretch.

Update cuz I"m bored

Hey guys.  Got to work super early and am bored, so I'm filling time with a small update on what happened last week.

Survivor & Losers Pools

The survivor pool tie breaker for 11th and 12th place was settled when Munez lost.  This means he'll be getting the 1 point and John will be getting 2 points.  Noone else got a strike, so that still leaves us with 5 people with no strikes and 5 people with one strike.

11. John
12. Munez

The losers pool had a little more action. The Steelers ass kicking of the chargers gave Joe his first strike of the season, leaving Shawn as the only person in the loser's pool not to get a strike.  More importantly, Hale got his 2nd strike on the backs of the Steelers dropping him out in 10th place in the losers pool.

10. Hale
11. Alex
12. Folden

Obviously the benefit for the people out in each pool is that they're doing fine in the other one.

Fantasy Football

Fantasy went the way of parody in about the best it could last week.  3 of the 4-1 teams lost, leaving just one person at 5-1 (Joe).  2nd-11th place now is differentiated between a bunch of 4-2, 3-3, and 2-4 teams.  Meaning that noone is out of this yet.  Alex even got his first win this past week, and even though it's an uphill battle, two wins in a row would have him at 3-4 and possibly able to make a move.  Here are your week 7 matchups:

Adam 3-3 vs Eplin 3-3
Joe 5-1 vs John 3-3
Hale 4-2 vs Folden 2-4
Jim 2-4 vs Alex 1-5
Munez 4-2 vs Shawn 4-2
Rob 3-3 vs Gary 2-4

Most notably in this is going to be the plight of the three 2-4 teams. A win by Gary, Jim, and Folden this week would push us into a further wide open field.

College Predictions

I figured I could do a short update on the state of things.  It's really to early in the conference schedules to discount much.  But there are a couple of things.  It's looking like everyone that had Nebraska in the conference championship game are likely to lose out.  The same could be said for people who picked Houston and Iowa, but again it's still to early to be sure.

The College Football Playoff has a little bit more variance though.  It's safe to say that my and Gary's pick of Texas and Alex's pick of Washington are done for.  Obviously everyone's Clemson and Alabama pics are safe, so that's not really a gain for anyone (except for Eplin who left Alabama out of the playoff.)

Most people had some sort of combination of Michigan, Georgia, or some other wild card team in the playoff that already has 1 loss.

Because of that everyone's already in danger.  The biggest person in danger is Eplin who, although all 4 of his teams are still available (Oregon, Michigan, Clemson, and Georgia), 3 of them are one loss away from being for sure eliminated.

Also, congrats to Rob on having the first correct prediction of the year in college, with Chris Ash from Rutgers already getting his ass fired.

Not much to be said in the pro predictions yet, it's still a few weeks too early.

Lastly, our week 6 bonus goes to Alex for his combined predictions.  Our bonus for most points goes to Rob and our bonus for most points for a losing team goes to Jim.

First Update of the Season

So, I realize we're like 6 weeks into the season and you've hardly heard jack shit from me all year.  I apologize.  Life gets lifey every once in awhile. That being said, I'm going to go through essentially where stand in the pick'ems, pools, bonus points, and fantasy sports.  I'll leave the Predictions for another post.

FANTASY FOOTBALL

Big surprise, we're 5 games into the season and we have a pretty big difference in the have's and have not's.  This seems to happen with us every year.

We have 4 teams tied at 4-1 at the top.

Joe
Munez
Hale
Shawn

After that I am the sole person at 3-2

After this we have 5 teams at 2-3

Gary at 1-4, and Alex at 0-5.  Alex's opponents are averaging 160 points against him a week.  Poor bastard.  This was butt fucked home by Joe putting up 240 points on him this past week.

So, obviously with Rob being in the six spot at 2-3 for the playoffs, no one is eliminated yet.  With 4 teams at 4-1, it does shrink the likely amount of spots.

Let's look at the Week 6 Schedule

Hale 4-1 vs Joe 4-1
Munez 4-1 vs Eplin 2-3
Shawn 4-1 vs Rob 2-3
Jim 2-3 vs Gary 1-4
Adam 3-2 vs John 2-3
Folden 2-3 vs Alex 0-5

So there's a little bit of hope for the underlings here.  Either Joe or Hale will be 4-2 and with some tough matchups we may have Shawn and Munez lose as well.  That would tighten things up in a fun way.

On a fun note,  Joe's team scored 243 pts last week and Gary's team has scored 460 points all season.

Fun Note Part 2:  We've had 3 trades this year in fantasy, and 2 of them I had nothing to do with.  So, keep it up.  This shit is fun.

Survivor Pool

We've had our first casualties of the year.  Munez and John each took the Chiefs, eliminating them from the Pool.  They will now play a sudden death to see who gets the 1 point and who gets the 2.  Next loss loses.

The rest of us are playing for the 12 points for the winner.  10 remain and at this point, Me, Alex, Rob, Gary, and Hale still have no strikes.  Eplin, Folden, Joe, Jim, and Shawn all have one strike.

Losers Pool

Our losers pool has 2 casualties as well, but those are more set in stone.  Folden went out in week 4, giving him the nice fat first 1 point of the year.  Alex went out in week 5 with Indi, so he'll have 2 points going to his final score at the end of the year.

Aside from that, Joe and Shawn are the only two who don't have a strike in loseres pool.  Everyone else is already clinging on with one strike.

Pick'ems

We wont' get too far into these, because these are as fluid as they come, but we'll go over the top of the pops.

Munez and Folden are on top of college with 73 points a piece.  Joe and Jim are 2 back and Alex is 3.  Only 5 points separate the 1st place from 8th place, so let's move on.

Pro Pick'em has a little more separation.  10 points separate 1st through 8th on this one. Alex is 1st with 48, me 2nd with 45.  Folden and Hale at 43.  Eplin is already 16 points back, with Joe and John barely in front of him.

But, since that's fluid we'll use this a chance to segway into our bonus points.

I'll type this for Alex as a first time player more then for anyone else, but we do have a change this year.

Each week, bonus points are passed out for season long, time invasive things like fantasy football and pick'ems.  This is done for two reasons, 1 to give us an extra category for the end of the year for our ROTO scoring, but also to add extra importance to things that are more time consuming or are more difficult to accomplish.

This is why there are no bonus points for Survivor or Losers pool anymore, because although it is strategic and difficult to win, it's not nearly as difficult as the other categories.

So, the way our pick'em bonus works, is that whoever has the most predictions correct out of the cooresponding week on yahoo gets a point.  So, even though week 1 of college and pros were played a week apart, whoever has the most correct predictions in those week 1 tabs on yahoo gets the bonus point.  This is different then how we used to do it, and is simply been changed to make my life easier counting this shit up.

So your bonus points in the pick'ems have gone as follows

Week 1:  Munez & Folden
Week 2:  Hale & Rob
Week 3: Alex
Week 4: Alex
Week 5 Folden

If you tie with someone, you don't split the bonus point, everyone who ties gets a full bonus point.

There are also two bonus points in Fantsasy,  One for the person with the highest weekly score, and 2nd for the person with the highest score that lost.

Your Fantasy bonus points this year have so far gone to

Week 1: Shawn and Alex
Week 2: Rob and Alex
Week 3: Hale and Rob
Week 4: Rob and John
Week 5: Joe and Folden

I think that covers all of the important stuff for this week.  Other then Jon Gruden getting fired has gotten almost everyone a correct pro prediction already.

So, I'll try to update again next week and hit up the college and pro predictions.

2019 Rules

ONLY A FEW CHANGES IN 2019.  I'm doing the weekly bonus points based off the week that it says on Yahoo.  Therefore even though Week 1 of college football and Week 1 of the NFL are played a week apart, the bonus point will go according to it just being Week 1.  This is simply to make it less consfusing for me when doing bonus points.

ROTO SCORING

This is in essence, THE change this year.  First I'll explain the process, then I'll explain the reasoning.

There will be 9 categories this year.

Fantasy Football, College Pick'em, Pro Pick'em, Survivor Pool, Losers Pool, Bowl Pick'em, College Predictions, Pro Predictions, & Bonus points.

The way that each of these categories operates will remain largely the same as years before, but here's the difference.  In previous years, you would receive 10 pts for a fantasy win, or 20 pts for a correct prediction, which would go to an overall total of points that would usually end up being between 950-1100 for the winner.  This year the winner will likely have between 65 & 75 points total.  Here's how it'll work.

If you win fantasy football you receive 12 points.  If you finish in last place you will receive 1 point.  If you finish in 2nd you get 11 points. 8th place would get 5 points.

The same goes for every category.  So, here's an example score sheet

Fantasy - 3rd (10 pts)
College pick - 8th (5pts)
Pro pick 6th (7 pts)
Survivor Pool 10th (3 pts)
Bowl pick 'em 12th (1 pt)
College Predictions 1st (12 pts)
Pro predictions 9th (4 pts)
Bonus points 2nd (11pts)
Losers Pool 8th (5 pts)

Total 58 pts out of a possible 108

Why am I making this change?

There are a couple reasons but mainly, it makes things a lot easier for me.  I can look at the scoring and figure out where people stand much more quickly.  I can still do point updates, just instead of points going up all year long, points will fluctuate up and down, depending on people's place in the standings.

I think this will help people stay in the mix to win for longer, and keep people more engaged.

TIE BREAKER

If there's a tie it will be broken by looking at the places.  If Jim & Joe both have 70 points and Jim has 1 first place and Joe has 0, Jim would win the tiebreaker.  If Joe also had 1, we would go to 2nd place finishes.  If Jim had 1 2nd & Joe had 2, Joe would win.  So on and so forth .

PAYMENT

The entry to Football God will be $77 this year.  Geiss & Colin were always the holdup from us raising the fee.  I accept payment through VENMO.  As I stated last year, I always hated taking money for the league.  This way things are in an escrow account of sorts.  I can also take Paypal if that's your only option, but I'd prefer Venmo, so all the money is in the same place.  $2 of the prize money from each person will go towards the site hosting our losers pool.

Eplin, I kept your $60 for coming in 3rd last year, so you only owe $17 for this year.

That puts our prize pool at $900 for the year.

1st $550
2nd $250
3rd $100

We'll probably move the entry to $100 next year and cap it there.  Unless anyone has an objection.

BOWL PICK'EM

Because the bowl pick'em has such a limited spectrum of games, we can't just do straight points.  We'll end up with the potential to have way too many people tied.  Also, since bowl pick'em is now equally weighted to the other areas of Football God, we need to up the skill level.  Because of this, I'm instituting confidence points in the bowl pick'em this year.

I'll explain that more when the time comes to sign up for the bowl pick'em.

SURVIVOR POOL

Survivor pool rules are the same as last year.  2 strikes and you're out.  Pick the team most likely to lose their game.  Can only choose each team once.

LOSERS POOL
We're going to do a weekly losers pool this year too.  The way this works is the opposite of the survivor pool.  You pick a team each week to lose.  You can pick each team once.  You get 2 strikes and you're out.

COLLEGE & PRO PICK'EM

I went back to doing the pro pick'em against the spread.  I know some of you don't like it, but with every category being of equal weight, the difficulty needs to be higher.

College pick'em is a weekly pick'em against the spread as well.

PREDICTIONS

You all should have received the Predictions sheet. I uploaded it to the facebook group message.  Let me know if you can't open it.

Bonus Points

Bonus points will still exist same as always.  But, they're a little different this year.

If you win college or pro pick'em in a week you get 1 bonus point.

If you are the highest scoring team in fantasy football for a week, you get a bonus point.
If you are the highest scoring losing team in fantasy football for a week, you get half a bonus point.
Every 4 wins you have in fantasy football you get a bonus point.  If you make the playoffs you get a bonus point.
If you make the fantasy playoffs you get a bonus point
If you win any of the categories you receive 4 bonus points. 2nd gets you 2 bonus points. 3rd gets you 1 bonus points.  This excludes losers pool and survivor pool, & obviously the bonus point category.
If you are the only person to get a prediction category correct, you get a bonus point.
For every 5 points you score in the predictions, you get a bonus point.

End of the Season Results

So, in the end, that shit was tight.  I'd recommend anyone to check my math here.  If nothing else I realized that I make mistakes, while going back through and figuring this all out.  But, anyway, let's see where we stand.

The Patriots won the Superbowl for the 300th time.  This was also only the 2nd Superbowl that I didn't watch.  The other being the 2nd Patriots and Giants game.  So, let's move on from this dynasty forever, please.

Kemp managed to predict the Superbowl exactly right.  And, after his miserable start with the survivor, losers, and fantasy football, Kemp managed to put together a nice little season in the end.  Well done Kemp.

Otherwise, Jim predicted the Rams to lose the Superbowl, and John predicted the Patriots to win.  The Chiefs losing the AFC Championship game also scored points for Jim and Eplin.  Oddly enough, although lots of people had the Saints in the Superbowl, no one had them losing the NFC Championship game.

With our individual awards and stats, noone had Patrick Maholmes winning MVP (obviously), or Nagy winning coach of the year.  But, we had a few come true.

Most people chose Saquon Barkley to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year.  Everyone but John.

Joe had Aaron Donald both winning DPOY and leading the league in Sacks. Hale and Eplin also had him for the DPOY & John had him leading the league in sacks.

Folden, Shawn, Munez, Rob, and Eplin all had Andrew Luck winning the Comeback player of the year award.

It was a rough year for some of the predictions this year.  So, let's take a look at our final standings in this.  Throughout all of this, the number in parenthesis is how many points you got in the standings.

Kemp 38 (12)
Eplin 34 (10.5)
Jim 34 (10.5)
John 32 (9)
Hale 30 (8)
Joe 27 (6.5)
Rob 27 (6.5)
Shaw 24 (5)
Adam 21 (4)
Munez 19 (3)
Folden 18 (2)
Gary 15 (1)

Kemp received 5 bonus points, Eplin & Jim each received 2.5.  For finishing in the top 3.

Points Associated in final standings.  Remember each person received a bonus point for every 5 points in this.

The Pro pick'em fished up here with the Superbowl and here are your final standings.

Folden 143 (12)
Munez 137 (11)
Rob 134 (10)
Joe 133 (9)
Gary 132 (8)
Shawn 128 (7)
Jim 127 (5.5)
Hale 127 (5.5)
Adam 124 (4)
Kemp 123 (3)
Eplin 111 (2)
John 100 (1)

Folden earns 5 bonus points, Munez 3, Rob 2.

With that we come to our end of the season.  Along with Bonus Points which finished off like this.

Munez 27
Kemp 25.5
Adam 25
Hale 24
Jim 21.5
Folden 20.5
Rob 19
Gary 18.5
John 18
Joe 18
Eplin 15.5
Shawn 14

So, the final standings.

1. Rob 76.5
2. Munez 64.5
3. Adam 64
4. Folden 63.5
5. Joe 63.5
6. Hale 62.5
7. Kemp 58
8. Eplin 57
9. Jim 52.5
10. Shawn 50
11. John 49
12. Gary 40.5

Congratulations to Rob on his first Football God title.  Congratulations to Munez on his highest finish yet.  I'm attaching the final standings for everyone to review, on facebook.  What you'll notice is the consistency.  Rob didn't finish lower then a tie for 6th in any category this year.  Pretty unreal.

Munez  fluctuated wildly, but a couple of 1st and a 2nd insulated him from this.  He narrowly pushed away of the 2nd-6th clusterfuck.

I was a bit in between, but I didn't fall below 3 points a tall, and finished with several double digit point finishes.

Folden did really well in many categories, but really poorly in his predictions.  That was his big bring down.  Joe was pretty consistent all around, but his biggest fault was not finishing higher then 3rd at all in any category.  That hurt his bonus points badly, which ended up being the difference.

Hale would have been in 2nd instead of 6th if the Rams had won the Superbowl.  That one hurts.

Also Folden and Joe tied for 4th.  So how do we resolve that for draft positioning?

The tiebreaker #1 is who had more 1st places in categories.  Folden had 1 in pro pick'em, and Joe had none.  So, that settles that.

Draft Order for Football God 2019

1. Folden
2. Joe
3. Hale
4. Kemp
5. Eplin
6. Jim
7. Shawn
8. John
9. Gary
10. Adam
11. Munez
12. Rob

Thank you so much for playing fellas.  I'll get ahold of Rob & Munez to get you guys your money.  Thanks very much for playing.

Big Changes Thanks to that Clemson Ass whoopin'

Quite the headline I know, but it really sort of fits in for the group.  To give a little background on the history of FBG we've been predicting the College & Pro Championships since the beginning.  The reason why those are worth significantly more points then other things is because it's relatively to predict just right.  So, in the course of our league, it's been a nice reward to give the people who are able to accurately predict the champion a bit of a leg up for doing so.

This year is not like every other year.  Since August everyone knew it was probably going to end up Clemson vs Alabama.  Sure, some people picked Georgia to mix it up, and Eplin in explicitly picked Wisconsin, but the likelihood of Clemson vs Alabama was high.  Because of that going into the last game of the season we were going to see a huge swing in the points either way.

With most people having one of the forms of Clemson and Alabama, whoever got it right was getting 10 points (in most cases) and the loser was getting nothing.  Below were the standings going into the final game.

Gary 27
Munez 26
Kemp 25
Eplin 24
Hale 23
Adam 22
Joe 22
John 19
Jim 19
Rob 18
Folden 18
Voyten 11

This would be the final standings if Alabama had won:

Munez 36
Hale 33
Joe 32
Eplin 30
Kemp 29
Folden 28
Gary 27
John 23
Adam 22
Jim 19
Rob 18
Voyten 11

Here are the final standings with Clemson winning

Gary 37 (7)
Adam 32 (6)
Jim 29 (5)
Munez 26 (5)
Kemp 25 (5)
Eplin 24 (4)
Rob 24 (4)
Hale 23 (4)
Joe 22 (4)
John 19 (3)
Folden 18 (3)
Voyten 11 (2)

Other than the fact that in either case, Shawn is woefully in last place, there are giant swings.  Remember this when we get to the standings this week.

With that, Gary gets 5 bonus points, I get 3 bonus points, and Jim gets 2 bonus points.  In addition to this I counted up our total prediction points.  In the rules, it stated that for every 5 points you score in the predictions you get a bonus point.  The bonus points are in parenthesis above.

Bonus Points

Giving an update on where we stand on bonus points:  Keep in mind this is with the 1 bonus point per prediction in College pick'em but NOT in the pro pick'em:  Obviously, those top 3 bonus's are coming into play more and more.

Munez 26
Adam 24
Hale 22.5
Gary 21
Kemp 17.5
Rob 17
Joe 17
Jim 17
John 16
Folden 15.5
Eplin  12
Shawn  12

Bowl Pick'em
Onto our bowl pick'em.  It appears nothing changed in the pick'em.  Meaning our final winner is Shawn, followed by Kemp, and then Me.  The bonus points will go out 5, 3, and 2.

Final ROTO points per person.

Shawn 12
Kemp 11
Adam 10
Eplin 9
Rob 8
Folden 7
Hale 6
Joe 4.5
John 4.5
Gary 3
Jim 2
Munez 1

Pro Pick'em

There were slight changes in pro pick'em this week.  Mainly with Gary jumping up to 4th.  This is still really close, with 2 games seperating Gary, Joe, and Shawn for 4th place.  Hale and Sahwn tied for 7th.  These last few games could make the difference in close standings in the finish.

Pro Predictions

John 26
Hale 24
Rob 21
Joe 21
Kemp 21
Jim 20
Adam 18
Eplin 17
Shawn 16
Munez 13
Gary 12
Folden 12

That are the current standings in the Pro Predictions.  And these are the points still to go out.

MVP
Offensive Rookie of the Year
Comeback player of the Year
Coach of the Year
Defensive Rookie of the Year
Defensive Player of the year
AFC & NFC Championship Game losers
Super Bowl Loser
Super Bowl Winner

So, in the next few weeks we'll settle the bonus points category, pro predictions, and pro pick'em.

So let's see what's changed.  Our standings last update

1. Rob 78.5
2. Joe 74
3. Hale 72.5
4. Munez 67.5
5. Adam 62
6. Folden 61.5
7. John 57.5
8. Eplin 51.5
9. Shawn 51
10. Kemp 49
11. Jim 39
12. Gary 38.5

Now let's see where everyone would stand if Alabama had won last week.

Joe 72.5
Hale 72.5
Rob 70
Munez 67
Folden 65.5
Adam 60
John 59.5
Eplin 54
Kemp 53.5
Shawn 49.5
Gary 40.5
Jim 39

Finally, let's take a look at where we actually stand, solely becaue Clemson beat Alabama, instead of the other way around.

Rob 78
Joe 67.5
Adam 67
Hale 67
Munez 64
Folden 58.5
John 56.5
Kemp 54.5
Eplin 52
Shawn 49.5
Jim 47
Gary 46.5

Unreal how a few bonus points and a jump in the standings can change everything.  Essentially it looks like Rob has it locked up.  He'd have to drop 11 points to one of the 3 people below him, and I don't think there's enough variance left for that to happen.

The interesting thing now is between 2nd and 5th.  Only half a point seperate 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.  With Munez still only a couple of points back.  With us all having different Superbowls, it'll probably come down to that game to decide who finishes in the money, and who finishes out.

Pre playoff update

Hey fellas.  Let's all be friends here and talk about where we stand going into the final month of the football season.

Fantasy Football

Hale and I's game came down to the Sunday night affair, and he outlasted me to win the Fantasy Championship.

That's 5 bonus points to Hale, 3 to me, and 2 to Rob, who finished in 3rd.

Your final points standings in fantasy look like this:

Hale 12
Adam 11
Rob 10
Joe 9
Shawn 8
Folden 7
Eplin 6
Munez 5
Jim 4
Gary 3
John 2
Kemp 1

Pro Pick'em has changed a lot of over the past few weeks.  With only 11 games left in the season, it may be hard to make too much of a move here.

Folden 12
Munez 11
Rob 10
Joe 9
Gary 8
Shawn 7
Jim & Hale 5.5
Adam 4
Kemp 3
Eplin 2
John 1

Folden is probably safe at either 1st or 2nd, with Rob in 3rd 6 games back.  Munez could still jump to 1st or possibly fall to 3rd.  The place where there's real chances for carnage is between 4th and 8th.  Only 4 games separate that bunch.

Bowl Pick'em

With 1 game to play here is where we stand

Shawn 559
Kemp 519
Adam 494
Eplin 480
Rob 477
Folden 432
Hale 422
John 422
Joe 421
Gary 391
Jim 331
Munez 320

The nice thing about ESPN is that it shows you how many points each person has remaining.  Rob for instance, at 5th has only 1 point left, so he can't go any higher than 5th place.  He also has a 45 point lead over Folden at 6th.  So you know he's set there at 5th.

Shawn has a 40 point lead over Kemp at 2nd place, with Kemp having 35 points left.  So Shawn will win.  Kemp can finish no worse then 3rd, I can finish no worse then 4th.  Eplin will finish between 2nd - 4th.

The real juice here is between 6th and 9th.  Only 11 points separates the Mclanes, Folden, and Hale.  So, who will use there gamesmenship right.  Switch to Clemson and hope everyone else picks Bama, or stay with Bama and hope every else switches?

Here's our cooresponding point totals as of now

Shawn 12
Kemp 11
Adam 10
Eplin 9
Rob 8
Folden 7
Hale 6
Joe 4.5
John 4.5
Gary 3
Jim 2

Pro Predictions

I don't really have time to go through all of this.  But I'll just post the point totals as of now.

John 26
Hale 24
Rob 21
Joe 21
Kemp 21
Jim 20
Adam 18
Eplin 17
Shawn 16
Munez 13
Gary 12
Folden 12

I'll get more into the pro predictions next week.

On another note I had completely forgotten that for College and pro predictions you get a bonus point for every 5 points you score.  So our bonus points are updated with that in mind.
Here is where we are at in bonus points now.

Munez 28
Hale 26.5
John 22
Adam 21
Joe 21
Rob  20
Kemp 19.5
Folden 17.5
Jim  17
Gary  16
Eplin  15
Shawn  10
Lastly,  Rob ended up winning the losers pool.  He didn't lose a game all year.  Well done by him and John taking it down to week 17.

So obviously there's a few bottle necks that can still clear up.  In the meantime, here are your overall total scores as of 1/4/19

1. Rob 78.5
2. Joe 74
3. Hale 72.5
4. Munez 67.5
5. Adam 62
6. Folden 61.5
7. John 57.5
8. Eplin 51.5
9. Shawn 51
10. Kemp 49
11. Jim 39
12. Gary 38.5

So, the addition of a couple of categories really mixed things up.  Hale jumped from 5th to 3rd.  Munez fell from 1st to 4th.  Folden from 3rd to 6th.  Will be interesting to see how things play out.  Points will fluctuate again on Tueday after the College football season ends.  Update it then.
