2011 Scoring

Football God 2011 Scoring

Pre Season Predictions.

I'll send you guys a spread sheet on the predictions as soon as I get microsoft word to stop being a faggggggggggggggggggg.
Obviously, this is the best chance to set yourself apart from everybody else. I'll need everybody's predictions in for College, which is September 1st. Here are the college categories.

20 points if you predict the winner of each of the 11 confrences. These are:

Big 10
Big 12
Big East
Pac 10
ACC
SEC
Sun Belt
Conference USA
Mountain West
MAC
WAC

Total: 220 points

Bowl Games

Name the 8 teams that will be in the BCS Bowls (not including National Champion)

15 points each

Total = 120 points

National Championship

First you will need to predict the championship game. Each team you get correct will net you 30 points. Also pick the champion. Picking that correctly will net you 50 points.

Total possible 110

Also, this year we will try to predict the winner of more individual awards. Those will be
Heisman Trophy
Davey O'Brien Award (Best QB)
Doak Walker Award (Best Running back)
AP Coach of the year award
Chuck Bednarik Award (Defensive player)

Total 150 points

Grand total for college preseason predictions. 600

Pro Preseason Scoring

Pick the winner of the 8 divisions - 20 points a piece

Total = 160

Predict the four wildcard winners 20 points a piece

Total = 80

Pick the 4 teams that will play in the AFC and NFC championship games (25 points a piece)

Total = 100

Superbowl

Each team you get correct to play in the superbowl will net you 30 points a piece, picking the winner will get you 50 points

Total: 110

NFL individual awards

Each of these that you predict will net you 25 points

MVP
Coach of the year
Offensive POY (player of the year)
Defensive POY
Off ROY (rookie of the year)
Def ROY
Comeback player of the year

Total = 150 points

Total = 600 POINTS AVAILABLE

Thats good for a grand total of 1200 points available. That's more than last year, but also a lot less than two years ago when we had about 2000 available points in the predictions.

If you have any troubles figuring out some of the college stuff, just look up people's predictions online. Also, I'm watching sports center right now and Eric Allen looks a lot like a black version of red skull, when he's in HD. Creepy. Also someone please check my math for me, I'm not trying to stress over this.

Pick 'Em Scoring

Pretty simple here, I'm setting up a pick 'em league. You make picks. You get one point for each pick, this is for pro and college picks. College picks are done against the spread, while Pro games are picked straight up.

For college and Pros put together that gets you around 500 possible points.

New Scoring Chance: The person who has the highest combined score between NFL and college in the regular season every week will win a 5 point bonus. I want to reward those who do the best each week. So, we will try this.

For the bowl games, those are worth 2 points a piece. The BCS games are worth 5 points. The Championship Game is worth 10 points.

For the NFL playoffs, the Wild Card and Divisional Round of the playoffs are worth 5 points each
The AFC Championsip is worth 10 points. The Superbowl is worth 15.

Also the winner of the regular season NFL receives a 25 point bonus
Winner of the College Football Pick 'em receives a 25 point bonus
Post season Bowl Pick 'em winner will receive a 10 point bonus
NFL post season does not award a bonus.

Fantasy Football

So, Fantasy Football awards the least amount of points, but usually has the biggest division between first and last. Last Year Folden and I scored about 100 points more than Shawn, which is a bigger gap than the Pick 'em usually awards. So we will keep scoring on that basically the same

10 points for each win. 14 games
If you get a first round bye you get 20 points
If you win the first round you get 20 points
If you win the Semi-finals you get 20 points
If you win the Championship you get 30 points

Also, back to the predictions, if you have a team in the championship game in college, but they make a BCS bowl, that does not count as a point for you. Likewise, if you have a team in a BCS game, but they make the National Championship, you don't get any points.

I believe that's everything. If you have any questions on anything, how keepers work for Fantasy Football, any of the rule changes, as far as being dropped if you don't change your roster, or any concerns at all let me know.

If you go perfect you would win 230 points.

Football God 2009 Champion: Adam Johnson

So, boys the season has hit it's end. The season is over and I emerged the victor. The difference between myself and Shawn on the season was 4 points. Pretty outstanding considering the amount of points this season.

The total of overall points finished up like this

Adam 1,247 ($100 first place, $20 first in predictions, $10 first in bowl pick 'em) $130
Shawn 1,243 ($20 second overall, $20 fantasy football champ) $40
Folden 1,091 ($10 tied for first in regular season pick 'em)
Munez 1,057 ($10 first place regular season fantasy football)
Joe 1,056
Jim 1,030
Geiss 1,019
Andrew 1,017 ($10 first place in pick 'em tied with folden)
Colin 964
Rob 800

I'll be home in about a week, so I'll collect the money from Jim and distribute it. As far as next year goes, send me a message if you'd like anything changed. All suggestions are welcome. In the next few weeks I'll tinker with the rules a little bit and fix some things up for next year. I've already got a decent start at it. First question is this though? Would you guys like to up the entry fee next year at all? If so, what level would you propose we do so at? Let me know guys. Great season.

Football God Updates Week 3,025

So, there are only 2 weeks left in the season, and to be honest with you guys it's down to a two man show. Here are the totals on the season.

Shawn 1222
Adam 1177
Folden 1071
Munez 1052
Joe 1051
Jim 1025
Andrew 1012
Geiss 1009
Colin 949
Rob 800

At this point, I am leading the preseason predictions portion of Football God, and am the only one that has the ability to still score more points. So, as of now things are like this. If Minnesota were to win next week and Indi lose, then I would have a 5 point lead over shawn, depending on how we do in the pick 'em, it's plausible that he and I could be tied going into the Superbowl with the championship riding on our pics.

Other scenarios
If Indi and Minnesota win next week then I will win. If Indi wins and Minnesota loses, then I will be in the lead, with the possibility to win 100 more points in the Superbowl.

If both Minn and Indy loses next week then Shawn will win. That's pretty much it as far as scenarios go.

In Bowl & Playoff Pick 'em here are the scores
Joe- 54
Jim - 48
Colin - 47
Adam - 45
Rob - 45
Munez - 42
Shawn - 42
Folden - 38
Andrew - 37
Geiss 36

That's it for this week. The Conference Championship predictions will be worth 5 points a piece, so there is still a chance to get your hands on a little bit of money and some bonus points. If not for the overall victory, at least for the pride.

Until next week guys.

Football God Updates

Hey guys, I'm sorry it's been so long since I've updated. In the past 17 days I've been at home for 6, had 8 guests in my apartment for 3 days, and spent 6 days in buffalo for work. So, there hasn't been a ton of time to get a lot done. However, we have persevered, and now things are pretty clear on the rest of the season. Let's start this update with fantasy football.

Congrats to Voyten, he dominated pretty hard throughout the season, and easily placed his dick inside Colin's mouth in the championship. Congrats, Pal. You are the bestest of the bestest.
In that vain, we can now tally up the total amounts of points won by each person for the fantasy season.

Shawn scored a total 195 points for the year. 100 regular season pointsl, 20 point bonus for 2nd in regular season. 25 point semi final win, 50 point finals win.

The other people receiving bonus points here are Colin (25), Munez (30), and Geiss (10). Here are our totals for the year altogether.

Shawn 195
Munez 150
Colin 115
Geiss 100
Folden 80
Rob 70
Joe 60
Andrew 50
Jim 50
Adam 40

Congrats to everyone on a good fantasy football season. From fantasy football there is $20 of the $200 prize pool promised to Voyten, and $10 to Munez for coming in first in the regular season.

PICK EM RESULTS

So the Pick 'em went back and forth all year, but when the dust settled we had two guys on top.
Andrew & Folden both tied with 310 points. Andrew did this by finishing the last week of the season with a panty moistening 14 out of 16, while Folden knocked out 13 out of 16. What this means is that they are each promised $10 bucks of the prize pool, splitting the $20. Plus, they will split the first and second place pick 'em bonus of 50 and 30 points. So they each earned 40 bonus points. Also, Colin earned 15 bonus points for coming in third. Here's how many points we each got in the pick 'em for the year. Points are with the bonus's figured in.

Andrew 350
Folden 350
Colin 319
Adam 302
Jim 302
Joe 298
Geiss 295
Rob 294
Shawn 290
Munez 280
Next, here are the total points earned for the Bowl Pick 'em. This will be factored in with the play off pick 'em for the NFL for bonus and pay out.

Joe 45
Colin 39
Adam 39
Jim 37
Shawn 37
Rob 35
Geiss 34
Munez 34
Folden 33
Andrew 29

The Bonus and $10 pay out for this part will be applied after the NFL playoffs. The wildcard round is worth 2 points a piece, 3 points a piece for the Divisional round, 5 points a piece for the Conf Champ, and 10 points for the Superbowl.

PRESEASON PREDICTIONS

All of the Predictions have been accounted for this year, accept for a few things. Superbowl, Conference champions, conference championship games. NFL Offensive & Defensive POY and Coach of the year. That being said, here is where the point totals have gotten us so far there.

Adam 710
Voyten 695
Joe 640
Jim 630
Folden 605
Geiss 570
Munez 540
Andrew 535
Colin 470
Rob 395

Before I move on I want to give credit on a couple of NFL predicitons to Folden. He had 6 out of the 8 division winners predicted, as well as 3 wildcard teams, including the Jets, which nobody else even considered this year. Nicely done, Folden.

Also, nod to both Voyten and Jim. Jim picked the #1 and #2 overall pick exactly, while Voyten got the #2 and #3 picks exact.
SEASON TOTALS

This season of football god is coming to an end. But there are still a few weeks left until the season totals are completely known. Here are our totals so far.

1. Voyten 1217
2. Adam 1091 (-126)
3. Folden 1068 (-149)
4. Joseph 1043 (-173)
5. Jimbo 1019 (-198)
6. Geiss 1009 (-208)
7.. Munez 1004 (-213)
8. Andrew 964 (-253)
9. Colin 943 (-274)
10. Rob 794 (-423)

Next week, I'll put out the scenarios of people who can still win overall. However, at this point it appears as though the most likely scenarios would include Rob, Colin, Munez, Joe, Geiss, and Jim all being statisically eliminated from overcoming Voyten for first. Second place overall pays out $20 too, and many people are still within striking distance of that.

The most likely scenarios of people being able to overcome Voyten for first would be me, if Indi were to win the AFC and the Superbowl or if Minnesota were to win the NFC and San Diego were not to win the AFC, Folden if Phili were to win the Superbowl, and possibly
Andrew with an outside shot, if a lot of things were to go his way, first and foremost the Patriots winning the Superbowl. However, next week things should be pretty clear.

Once again, I'm sorry this took so long to update. I encourage everybody to rework any of my math if you have any questions. The points for each prediction (as well as everything else) are available on the blog in August, Football God Rules post. I have worked all of this math out and double checked most of it, but i may have made mistakes along the way. Let me know if you have any questions or explanations on the points.

*Note: Due to popular demand, next season's football god fantasy league will go down from two starting QB's to 1, and the roster sizes will shrink from 20 to 17. More changes will be announced in the wrap up to the season.

Week 15 bitches

sorry for the delays, I've been busy as fuck. went to albany for work and then punched the bear all weekend. i hope u guys understand. So Voyten clinched the playoffs, now it's he and the glove in for sure. Geiss is all but 100 % for sure too, so look forward to Geiss vs Voyten in the first round of the playoffs, and Munez vs Folden/Rob/Colin in the first round.

Interesting stat about our league, Joe is 3rd in points for the season, but in 7th place. Colin is 9th in points this season but in 4th place. Geiss has outscored Colin by nearly 300 points, and they have the same record. Wings had some good songs in the 70's...love take me down, to the streets.

The way it's going to go is pretty simple, if Colin wins, he's in. If Colin loses and Rob wins, then he's in. If they both lose, and Folden wins, then he's in.

Pick 'em (shout out to Munez for waiting until Sunday night to make any picks)

Pro Pick 'em (college added to the right)

Jim 144 + 128 = 272
Colin 142 + 134 = 276
Geiss 136 + 130 = 266
Rob 136 + 126 = 262
Voyten 135 + 124 = 259
Folden 135 + 141 = 276
Joe 134 + 135 = 269
Andrew 133 + 144 = 277
Adam 130 + 146 = 276
Munez 128 + 134 = 262

So the ranking is
Andrew (0)
Adam (-1)
Folden (-1)
Colin (-1)
Jim (-5)
Joe (-8)
Geiss (-11)
Rob (-15)
Munez (-15)
Voyten (-18)

Munez basically forfeited his way out of this one. It's probably just between Me, Andrew, Colin, Folden, and Jimbo now, but Joe has an outside shot if he goes on a tear.
Here's the totals on the season.

Fantasy Bonus + College Predictions + Combined Pick 'em

Munez 110 + 300 + 262
Voyten 100 + 395 + 259
Geiss 80 + 350 + 266
Colin 80 + 265 + 276
Folden 70 + 280 + 276
Rob 70 + 140 + 262
Joe 60 + 400 + 269
Andrew 50 + 240 + 277
Jim 50 + 370 + 272
Adam 30 +430 + 276

And now, the current overall standings.

Voyten 754
Adam 736
Joe 729
Geiss 696
Jim 692
Munez 672
Folden 626
Colin 621
Andrew 567
Rob 470

Now, I realize that these predictions are extremely heavily weighted. I think that it's obvious that they should be ranked higher than pick 'em or a fantasy football game, but perhaps it's a little bit too high. I think next year it will serve us better to cut the pre season prediction points in half, straight down the line, I'd like some feedback on this. I'd also like some feedback on any other changes that people think we should have. We can all vote at the end of this season. I have some ideas, like making this a 2 or 3 player keeper league.

Also, there are some NFL predictions that could be counted right now, but I'm just going to wait until the regular season wraps up before I start counting them. Until next time, ladies. (adam shakes his hips like Val Venis while riding a jet ski)
