Week 4, results and score totals

So we're now four weeks into the football god season. The posts will probably be sparing for the first half of the season, until things start to heat up. So, week 3 of football god showed Colin come ahead with the 5 point bonus again, scoring 28 points in the week. For week 4, Andrew, Bono, and Jim all scored 23 points to each, which puts them all in line for the 5 point bonus. Dallas and Washington could change that tonight. (UPDATE: Andrew and Jim win the 5 point bonus each this week)

So thoughts so far on pick 'em.

Folden's pick of Florida St to make it to the National Championship is dead in the water, after two consecutive loses. The same can be said about John's pick of Arkansas to the same game. That's the risk with taking ballsy picks. If you win, you look like a genius, and score lots of points over everyone else. If not, you can look like a bull headed dick face.

For the 5 of us that chose the Colts to win the AFC South, we can pretty much count that out. Kerry Collins looks like the same stiff, drunken self, unable to make a play. Thinking back over the course of his career, I can't remember a more boring quarterback to watch play professional football.

Let's open up a dialogue about this on facebook. Who's more boring to watch QB then Kerry Collins, that's been a starter in the league for a consistent amount of time? Trent Dilfer? Thoughts?

To give you guys a little bit of an understanding of what this season has brought us so far, the Raiders, Bills, Browns, and Lions are a combined 10 - 2. Out of all of us, only Folden had the Raiders in the playoffs, and I had the Lions. I realize that the season is really young, and lots of shit could still happen, but so far it's nice to see pretty much all of the worst teams of the last decade starting to get there shit together.

In fantasy football, Geiss got out of the cellar with his first win of the season, pushing me to 0-3 despite a recent trade that Munez and I made. Colin and Folden showed why they are ranked first and last in fantasy football this year, with Colin putting a harsh pounding on the defending champion.

Bono moved to 2-1 with a pretty good beating on Munez, who fell to 1-2, while Andrew (1-2) fell to Shawn (3-0)

Joe took it to Jim. Joe moved a game over .500, and Jim a game under. And stayed undefeated, going to 3-0 over John (1-2).

So that brings us to the point standings on the year.

Week 2 point totals

Week 2 of the pick 'em Colin had 25 points total, between College and Pros, earning him the 5 point bonus. I'm obviously not going to count up everybody's individual point totals, considering those are on the pick 'em pages. However, I'll give it up to the people who won at fantasy football this week.

Interesting side note that Shawn pointed out to me. Tom Brady scored more points this week then Bono's entire team. Kind of funny, I guess.

Best, Worst, and Ballsiest

So, i know I never did a preseason prediction report. So, i figure we're only a couple weeks into the season. So, I"m going to go through a list of some of the best pics, worst pics, and ballsiest pics. Some of these will be group picks, some will be individual.

Best Pick: The parody in our Superbowl picks.

Every year, it seems like we only have two or three different teams winning the Superbowl, with one team receiving like 7 votes to win it. This year, that is not the case. This year we have EIGHT DIFFERENT teams predicted to win the Superbowl. Only New England, 3, Green Bay, 2, and San Diego, 2, have more than one prediction. The reason why this is so great, is that the Superbowl prediction is the last one to get counted at the end of the year. With this much parody in our picks, it's much more likely that the final week of Football God could be meaningful to the final standings.

Worst Pick: Everybody who picked Alabama vs Oklahoma for the national championship

I'm not saying it's not gonna happen. I'm not gonna say it's not the smart pick. But, I will say you have no balls. Bono may have had Oregon in the national championship, which is all but fucked now, but at least he went out on a limb and took a team that's not #1 or #2 in the pre season rankings. So, i think you are all pussies.

Ballsiest Pick: Folden picking FSU for the national championship game, John picking Arkansas

I love those picks. I don't care that FSU is starting off ranked high. That's a team that hasn't proven shit for about ten years. I'm sure they will probably end up losing 2 or 3 games this year, but awesome of Folden to take the risk.

John taking Arkansas is my favorite pick of the year. It's random, because Arkansas started so low, and one of a kind. And if Arkansas were to win the SEC they will end up in the National Championship. That's not going to happen. But, what I love about this pick is it found a way to be the most out there pick, while still being fathomable. Nice job, John.

Best Pick/Ballsiest Pick:

Folden taking the Raiders to win the AFC west. I guess we all forgot that the Raiders went 6-0 in their division last year, except for Folden. I certainly did. It's a best pick because, all they have to do is improve a little bit on last year, and they could win that division. It's also considered a ballsy pick, because IT'S THE FUCKING RAIDERS. While Al Davis is still alive (sitting in his castle, drinking the blood of still born children to keep his youth) you can't trust the Raiders.

Worst Pick: Andrew and Simon....idiot award winners

Andrew went out on a limb with his defensive player of the year award, taking RB Darren Mcfadden to win it. Andrew has had gaffs like this in the past, but this one was especially enjoyable to read.

Simon, on the other hand, chose Alshon Jeffrey, South Carolina's WR to win the Chuck Bednarick award. I don't know if Simon has insider knowledge Jeffrey is going to play defense this year, or if Simon just didn't realize that the Chuck Bednarick award is given to the best DEFENSIVE player in NCAA.

Ballsiest Picks: Play off pics

I was the only person to pick Detroit to go to the playoffs this year. Which isn't looking as bad as it did last year, but until that team wins something has to be considered ballsy.

Geiss took Seattle to win the NFC west, even though Tavaris Jackson is their starting QB. Tavaris Jackson is a no talent nig that needs to be out of the NFL and dead.

Shawn taking Tennessee to win the AFC South. I don't hate the pick. I don't love the pick. I'm completely numb to that pick, because it's not going to happen. But I appreciate him thinking outside of the box.

John taking Tampa Bay to win the NFC south. With powerhouses like NO and ATL in the south, this is a really ballsy pick. I'd love to see it happen, however unlikely it might be.

WORST PICK

All of us, including me, who picked the Colts to win the AFC South. Given we didn't know the severity of PayPay's injury at the time. But, now we do, and now we're fucked. As Folden texted me the other day, "Kerry Collins just heard about facebook."

Best Pick: Suh for DPOY

I picked Suh thinking that I might be picking a sleeper. I thought most people would go with Clay Matthews or something. But, Suh dominated the picks, just as he will the NFL, and the pitter patter of my heart.

FOOTBALL GOD 2011

The season is underway, ladies. I sent you all an email with all of our picks. Also, there have been a couple of rule clarifications that need to be written out next year. So thank you for those of you that brought them to my attention. I'll make sure to be as clear as possible next year. I'll do a breakdown of some of the picks, either later in this post, or later. Depending on how long this takes to do. So first off, let's MEET THE COMPETITORS.

2 Time & Defending Champion - Anthony Folden

Folden won both the inaugural season of Football God, as well as last season. He sandwiched a 3rd place finish in the 2009 season. Folden is getting married next summer, and living in North Carolina.

Simon lives in Huntington, WV and is just finishing up his Masters. He is new to Football God, but he's sweet as a black bear. If you are curious which one he is in this picture he is the only one that obviously doesn't fit in.

Colin Reilly

Colin lives in Buffalo and just got married to his longtime lady Kristen. He's expecting his first child, a red haired baby boy, this winter. Colin was in Football God 2009 where he finished in a pathetic 9th out of 10. And, no, it wasn't a shot gun wedding.

Shawn is a slick cat, who lives in Pittsburgh. He's in his third year of Football God, with a 2nd place finish in 2009, followed by a sad 8th out of 9 last year. Shawn is a myserious man, and it's almost impossible to find a fucking picture of him on facebook. There are like 10 to choose from.

Obviously, this is the best chance to set yourself apart from everybody else. I'll need everybody's predictions in for College, which is September 1st. Here are the college categories.

Thats good for a grand total of 1200 points available. That's more than last year, but also a lot less than two years ago when we had about 2000 available points in the predictions.

If you have any troubles figuring out some of the college stuff, just look up people's predictions online. Also, I'm watching sports center right now and Eric Allen looks a lot like a black version of red skull, when he's in HD. Creepy. Also someone please check my math for me, I'm not trying to stress over this.

Pick 'Em Scoring

Pretty simple here, I'm setting up a pick 'em league. You make picks. You get one point for each pick, this is for pro and college picks. College picks are done against the spread, while Pro games are picked straight up.

For college and Pros put together that gets you around 500 possible points.

New Scoring Chance: The person who has the highest combined score between NFL and college in the regular season every week will win a 5 point bonus. I want to reward those who do the best each week. So, we will try this.

For the bowl games, those are worth 2 points a piece. The BCS games are worth 5 points. The Championship Game is worth 10 points.

For the NFL playoffs, the Wild Card and Divisional Round of the playoffs are worth 5 points each

The AFC Championsip is worth 10 points. The Superbowl is worth 15.

Also the winner of the regular season NFL receives a 25 point bonus

Winner of the College Football Pick 'em receives a 25 point bonus

Post season Bowl Pick 'em winner will receive a 10 point bonus

NFL post season does not award a bonus.

Fantasy Football

So, Fantasy Football awards the least amount of points, but usually has the biggest division between first and last. Last Year Folden and I scored about 100 points more than Shawn, which is a bigger gap than the Pick 'em usually awards. So we will keep scoring on that basically the same

10 points for each win. 14 games

If you get a first round bye you get 20 points

If you win the first round you get 20 points

If you win the Semi-finals you get 20 points

If you win the Championship you get 30 points

Also, back to the predictions, if you have a team in the championship game in college, but they make a BCS bowl, that does not count as a point for you. Likewise, if you have a team in a BCS game, but they make the National Championship, you don't get any points.

I believe that's everything. If you have any questions on anything, how keepers work for Fantasy Football, any of the rule changes, as far as being dropped if you don't change your roster, or any concerns at all let me know.

If you go perfect you would win 230 points.

So, boys the season has hit it's end. The season is over and I emerged the victor. The difference between myself and Shawn on the season was 4 points. Pretty outstanding considering the amount of points this season.
